BUILDING TOGETHER IN LOVE

"Each part helps other parts. This is what is needed to keep the whole body together. In this way, the whole body grows strong in love." — Ephesians 4:16 (NLV)

This Regional Assembly is our invitation to gather, to listen, and to build something deeper. Guided by the theme Building Together in Love, inspired by Ephesians 4:16, we come as the Indiana Region — diverse in gifts, united in calling.

Every congregation has a story. Every leader carries a piece of the vision. Every ministry holds a part of what God is doing in this state. When we bring those pieces together, something greater takes shape. Join us as we celebrate who we are, honor what God has placed in each of us, and boldly imagine what we can build — together — for the communities, families, and neighborhoods we are called to love and serve.

Building Together in Love — because every congregation, every ministry, and every leader brings something essential to the shared life of the Indiana Region.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS & FEATURED GUESTS

Rev. Dr. Traci Blackmon Keynote Speaker | Saturday, October 3

Rev. Dr. Traci Blackmon is a powerful voice whose influence extends across local communities and global movements. Her courageous leadership following the killing of Michael Brown, Jr. in Ferguson, MO brought national and international recognition—from the White House to the Vatican—and led to appointments on the Ferguson Commission and the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships, as well as inclusion in Ebony Magazine’s Power 100. A co-author of the UCC’s White Privilege curriculum and a national advocate for Moral Revival alongside Rev. Dr. William Barber and others, she is a fierce and faithful leader committed to justice, healing, and the flourishing of every community she serves.

Rev. Blackmon previously served as Executive Minister of Justice & Witness Ministries for the United Church of Christ and as Senior Pastor of Christ the King UCC in Florissant, MO—a congregation she helped grow significantly through an expanded vision of church as a sacred launching pad for community engagement and transformation. A registered nurse with more than 25 years of clinical experience, she brings a rare blend of healthcare expertise and prophetic pastoral leadership to her ministry. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Jose Francisco Morales Keynote Bible Scholar | Saturday, October 3

Professor Morales is a historical and comparative theologian whose work brings classic theological voices into conversation with communities and perspectives often marginalized in traditional scholarship. His research spans historical theology, the development of Christian doctrine, interreligious encounters, liberation theologies, and Latin American and Caribbean thought. His most recent book, Wonder as a New Starting Point for Theological Anthropology (2023), explores how wonder reshapes understandings of the human person.

An ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Professor Morales has served in congregational ministry, advocacy, community organizing, denominational leadership, and theological education. He is married to Rev. Daphne M. Gascot Arias, and together they share life with their daughters, Daphne Magnolia and Yael Marie.

Rev. Kory Wilcoxson Keynote Speaker | Clergy Retreat | Friday, October 2

Kory Wilcoxson serves as the Senior Pastor at Crestwood Christian Church, a role he has held since November 2009. Before coming to Lexington, he served congregations in Chicago and Indianapolis. He holds degrees in communication, journalism, and religious studies, and recently completed his Doctor of Ministry degree.

Kory is the proud father of two daughters, Sydney and Molly, who keep him grounded and bring great joy to his life. A lifelong fan of the Reds, Bengals, and Kentucky Wildcats, he considers Lexington a little slice of heaven. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Crestwood congregation and looks forward to all that God continues to unfold in this community.

The Many Featured Artist | All Assembly Concert | Friday, October 2

The Many is an intentionally diverse collective creating music for people to sing together — music rooted in faith, peace, racial and economic justice, and LGBTQ+ inclusion. Born out of a shared love of music and a commitment to honest expressions of faith, The Many brings together artists who believe music can move people, challenge systems, and build community.

But The Many does more than perform. Whether at a house concert, festival, conference, or justice-grounded gathering, they create fully immersive experiences — weaving together music, words, images, and liturgy into something participatory and transformational. It's music for a movement of resistance to hatred and division, for reconciliation and restoration. At the heart of everything they do is a simple but powerful reminder: "we are on this earth to love."
